This article studied the antioxidant activity and evaluated the gene pool of Prunus avium L. grown in Nakhchivan AR. The article investigated several important properties of Prunus avium L., a highly valuable fruit for humans, and presents the results. Prunus avium varieties and forms are widely grown in Nakhchivan AR. This species, selected as the object of research, is widespread in the territory of the autonomous republic. Researchers studied cherry varieties cultivated in the area and identified many cherry forms. As a result, researchers selected and studied 37 cherry varieties in detail and identified 12 as promising based on their biological, pomological, and productivity indicators. The cherry gene pool was also grouped by ripening time, with Early-, mid-, and late-season varieties categorised as local varieties, introduced varieties, and forms. The study also examined the fruits' phytochemical composition. We assessed the cherry fruit samples using the DPPH method. We calculated the SC50 value for the samples. The SC50 value for cherry fruits was 2.04 ± 0.069. The results show that cherry fruits have high antioxidant activity.
